Fort Valley State University will host Lane College on Saturday, October 24, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern at Wildcat Stadium. The game is designated as Homecoming and Gold Out on the official football schedule. The Wildcats return home after their October 17 victory at Savannah State.
Wildcats return to Wildcat Stadium
Fort Valley State enters the weekend 2–4 overall and 1–3 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, according to its current schedule. The 22–9 win at Savannah State ended a run of defeats and supplied a positive result before Homecoming. The Wildcats’ October 10 home matchup with Clark Atlanta remains listed as postponed.
The clearest recent model for Fort Valley State is its fourth-quarter execution against Savannah State. The Wildcats scored the final 14 points after entering that period behind by one. Repeating the defensive discipline that kept the Tigers without a touchdown would give the home side a stronger foundation against Lane.
GSB Take
Homecoming supplies energy, but Fort Valley State still needs to turn that energy into controlled possessions. A sharper start would reduce the need for another late recovery. The Wildcats have a chance to connect their road breakthrough with a home performance that gives supporters a more consistent picture of this team.
