North Georgia Wins Flight B Singles and Doubles Titles

October 23, 2026 · North Georgia

By Brian Hradsky

The University of North Georgia men’s tennis team earned Flight B titles in singles and doubles at the 2026 ITA Southeast Regional in Sumter, South Carolina. Anton Krondell won the singles championship. Juan Cruz Blanco and Janos Varga added the doubles crown, according to the university’s October 20 tournament report.

Nighthawks collect two regional flight championships

Krondell defeated Francis Marion’s Jules Subra 6–3, 6–2 in the singles final. Earlier rounds included deciding tiebreakers against Samuil Sivinov and Kenneth Rabinad Villa. His semifinal ended when Cam Simpson retired because of an injury.

Blanco and Varga beat Flagler’s Noah Paterson and Oliver Hradilek 8–4 in their doubles final. They had advanced through Belmont Abbey with a 9–7 semifinal win. Marcos Castellanos and Alex Despoja also reached the round of 16 in Flight A singles, giving North Georgia additional progress beyond its two championship finishes.

GSB Take

Winning two flights gives North Georgia several positive results to build around as its tennis calendar continues. It is important to identify these specifically as Flight B championships rather than presenting them as the overall regional singles and doubles titles. Krondell’s recovery through close rounds and the doubles pair’s ability to finish the final were the most encouraging competitive details.
