Valdosta State University senior forward Blaise Wallace has been named to the 2026–27 preseason All-Gulf South Conference men’s basketball team. The university announced the honor on October 19. Wallace gives the Blazers a recognized returning presence as they prepare for a new season.
A returning forward receives conference recognition
The same announcement also identified Evans, Hamlett and Voth on the conference’s newcomers-to-watch list. Those selections add a second storyline alongside Wallace’s individual recognition. The preseason honors describe expectations heading into competition rather than achievements earned during the upcoming schedule.
Wallace supplied a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in Valdosta State’s 79–73 win over Lee on February 5 of last season. That performance offers one concrete example of the interior production the Blazers have received from him. Carrying that sort of contribution into 2026–27 would help establish a dependable starting point for the team.
GSB Take
Wallace’s recognition gives Valdosta State a credible individual storyline before the opening tip. The larger question is how well that returning production connects with the rest of the rotation. Preseason selections create interest, but the Blazers will need consistent rebounding, defensive possessions and shared offensive execution to turn expectations into results.
