Gladiators Open 2026–27 Against Norfolk on October 17

Gladiators Open 2026–27 Against Norfolk on October 17 headline over an empty maroon-lit hockey rink with www.georgiasportsblog.com.

The Atlanta Gladiators open their 2026–27 ECHL season against the Norfolk Admirals on October 17 at Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. Eastern. The teams meet again on October 18, with Atlanta’s current game listings showing a 3:10 p.m. start for the Sunday contest.

The home weekend begins a 72-game schedule for the Gladiators. Atlanta’s season announcement placed an eight-game road stretch from October 23 through November 12 after the opening series. That sequence gives the team an immediate reason to establish its game before leaving the familiar setting of its home rink.

Atlanta’s roster preparation continued with three forward additions from Milwaukee on October 11. Austin Roest and Hiroki Gojsic were assigned to the Gladiators, while Ben Strinden joined on loan. Those moves give the coaching staff additional choices after the club’s initial 30-player camp announcement.

The Gladiators also have returning players with recent experience in important games. Adam Eisele scored four goals in six playoff games against South Carolina last season after joining Atlanta late in the regular season. The club re-signed him in September, giving the forward group another player who has already contributed in a Gladiators uniform.

Norfolk strengthened its goaltending group by signing Collin Delia on October 6. The Admirals’ announcement credited Delia with 181 AHL appearances and an 88–72–15 record at that level. His arrival adds an experienced option to Norfolk’s roster, although an opening-night starter still requires a game-day decision.

Atlanta’s official game page supplies ticket links and viewing information for the opener. The first weekend should provide a useful assessment of the team’s defensive-zone exits, special teams and ability to create chances around the crease. Opening with two games against the same opponent also gives the Gladiators a quick opportunity to make adjustments between contests.

GSB Take

Atlanta should treat opening weekend as an opportunity to build habits before the long road stretch. The affiliate additions and returning forwards give the team options, but clean puck management and disciplined defending will determine how useful those options become. A steady start would allow the Gladiators to begin building points while the roster continues to settle.
