Albany State University men’s basketball will hold Golden Rams Madness on Wednesday, October 28, at 6:30 p.m. The event is scheduled for the Jones Brothers HPER Complex in Albany. It gives supporters an opportunity to connect with the program before the 2026–27 season begins.
An early look at Golden Rams basketball
The university announced the event on October 22 as a preseason celebration of Golden Rams basketball. The date puts the gathering less than a week after that announcement. Supporters planning to attend should use the official athletics notice for the latest event information.
Albany State is also entering its first season under head coach Rodney Mayes, according to the program’s September schedule announcement. A coaching transition makes the preseason an especially useful time to introduce a team’s identity to its supporters. How that identity translates into game results will become clearer once the competitive schedule begins.
GSB Take
Preseason events are an opportunity to build a connection between a team and its community before the standings take over the conversation. Albany State can use that attention to give returning supporters and new fans a reason to follow the season closely. The next meaningful measure will be how the Golden Rams execute when the games count.
