The Atlanta Falcons placed linebacker Yasir Abdullah on injured reserve with a hamstring injury and signed safety Jammie Robinson to the 53-man roster on October 10. Atlanta announced the moves before its Sunday night home game against the Baltimore Ravens. The team also used standard practice squad elevations on defensive ends Bralen Trice and Drake Jackson for that matchup.
Robinson brings familiarity with Atlanta’s defensive and special teams assignments. He joined the Falcons’ practice squad in November 2025 and played in six games for the team last season. He also received a game-day elevation for the October 5 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
The safety began his professional career with the Carolina Panthers after they selected him in the fifth round of the 2023 draft. He played two seasons in Carolina before joining Atlanta. The Falcons’ announcement described his value as defensive depth with a primary role on special teams.
Robinson’s official biography lists college stops at South Carolina and Florida State. He appeared in 47 college games and made 37 starts, recording 319 tackles and seven interceptions across four seasons. His experience provides a different roster function from the linebacker position vacated by Abdullah, so the transaction should not be treated as a direct positional replacement.
The Trice elevation also carried an approaching roster decision. Atlanta said the Baltimore game represented his third standard practice squad elevation of the season. The team’s announcement explained that another game-day appearance through that route would require signing him to the active roster.
Standard elevations are separate from a permanent 53-man roster signing. In its October 10 announcement, Atlanta noted that teams can elevate two practice squad players for a game and use that mechanism up to three times per player during the season. That distinction matters when assessing which moves affect a particular game and which change the active roster going forward.
The moves formed part of Atlanta’s preparation for a game it ultimately lost 30–23 in overtime. The Falcons now turn toward an October 18 home matchup with the Chicago Bears. The next official roster and injury updates will establish how the team distributes defensive depth for that assignment.
GSB Take
Robinson’s signing gives Atlanta an experienced option for safety depth and special teams work. Abdullah’s absence still leaves the Falcons with a separate linebacker concern, while Trice’s elevation limit creates another decision if the team wants him available again. Keeping those roles distinct makes the roster changes easier to evaluate than treating every addition as a direct answer to the latest injury.
