The Kennesaw State Owls swept the Delaware Blue Hens 3–0 on Oct. 10 to complete a successful volleyball road series. Kennesaw State won 25–18, 25–16 and 25–21 at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, Delaware. The victory moved the Owls to 9–9 overall and 3–3 in Conference USA, while Delaware fell to 7–9 and 2–4.
Haley Patterson led Kennesaw State with 13 kills while hitting .357. She added five digs, two service aces and a block. The Owls finished with 47 kills compared with Delaware’s 22, providing a substantial advantage in attacking production.
Kennesaw State hit .265 for the match and held Delaware to .071. The Owls also collected nine service aces, including two each from Patterson, Gracie Pynes, Kaeley Walz and Alexis Sowers. The combination of serving pressure and attacking efficiency prevented Delaware from sustaining enough offense to extend the match.
The third set still required a comeback after Delaware built an 18–11 lead. Kennesaw State closed on a 12–3 run to finish the sweep. That response gave the victory added value because the Owls recovered from a difficult stretch instead of allowing the match to become longer.
Olivia Burrage contributed 10 kills and two blocks, increasing her school-record career block total to 411. Walz finished with 29 assists, while Sowers led the team with nine digs. The result followed Friday’s 3–1 win at Delaware and gave Kennesaw State its third consecutive Conference USA road victory.
The Owls return to VyStar Arena for a two-match series against the Missouri State Bears. Friday, Oct. 16, is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+, with Saturday, Oct. 17, listed for 2 p.m. ET. Carrying the road weekend’s serving and attacking production home would give Kennesaw State an opportunity to build on its restored .500 conference record.
GSB Take
Kennesaw State combined a clear statistical advantage with a strong response when Delaware threatened in the third set. That is a useful pairing for a team trying to build confidence during conference play. The next measure is whether the Owls can reproduce the same consistency against Missouri State after returning home.
